Carriage Rides Country Carriages (760)765-1471 around Julian. See the carriages usually parked outside the Julian Drug Store and/or kittycorner from the Drug Store. The buckets of water are for the horses. They have special romantic sunset rides.

Eagle & High Peak Mines,(760)765-0036, P. O. Box 624, Julian, CA 92036. Tour this 1870 era hard rock gold mine. Drive out "C" Street about 1/4 of a mile. Go down inside the mine tunnels. See authentic tools, machinery, trucks and cars. Rock and mineral Display. Gold panning demonstration. They have Picnic Area, restrooms. Cameras okay. Special arrangements can be made for groups.

Fishing on Lake Cuyamaca. (760)765-0755, 15027 Highway 79, Trout, crappie, catfish, etc in this stocked lake. See the Fish and Game people in the small building next to the Lake Cuyamaca Restaurant. More about Lake Cuyamaca.

Julian Stables Trail Rides. (760)765-1598, Guided Trail Ride. Located only 1.5 miles from Julian. 200lb weight limit. Require and provide helmets. Reservations required. Web Site.

Hiking. There are over one hundred different hiking trails in these mountains. Here are a few.
-Volcan Mountain, entrance out Farmers Road. You will come to a four way intersection go right then immediately left. The entrance comes up on your right.
-Stonewall Mine. As you drive South from Lake Cuyamaca, there is a small brown and white sign on your right that points to the entrance on your left to the Stonewall Mine and Horse camps. keep to your left to come to Stonewall Mine. There is a picnic grounds and a trail that goes up around the old water tank.
-Stonewall peak, across from Paso Pichacho Campground on highway 79 just South of Lake Cuyamaca. About one hours easy hike up to peak. It is named after the Stonewall Mine North of here, not the Boulders you have to climb up at the peak.
-Green Valley Falls, Green Valley Falls Campground, several miles South of Lake Cuyamaca. It is a short hike from the campgrounds to the falls. Someone from a wetter State might walk right past these "Falls". There is just enough water for kids to play. Warning: The rangers try to keep this area clear and it is posted for no glass containers but you never know when some idiot will break a bottle and not clean up the pieces. Star Gazing buy yourself an astronomy book and learn the constellations. Julian has more stars to see. You can also contact one of our local Star Gazers to come and help your group. Star Gazers Club. Observer's Inn offer their Observatory Sky Tours to outside guests on Friday and Saturday evenings after the 1st hour sky tour with their guests. They accept up to 4 people at a time. Web Site.
