Scott, Sept 1999
I would like to input my opinion on one of
the Julian campgrounds. During the summer of 1999 my friend and
I stayed at Pinezanita Ranch campground. It had a fairly small
lake, but we weren't fishing anyways. The grounds themselves
were nicely kept, and it was very quiet and peaceful. The staff
in the main office when you first enter the campground were very
helpful and nice. They even have a good movie selection for rent,
if you have a portable TV. The office even had some food products
including candy for the youngsters. They also sold fire wood
and ice. Not only did they have movies but you can even rent
books to read. If you forget to bring a air mattress or sleeping
bag the ground underneth the tent is even harder than normal
dirt because of the pebbles overlaying the dirt. There are some
trails to hike along, but not many. They allow open fires in
a fire ring and also have a small barbeque pit for grilling,
but they are pretty dirty and rusty so i recommend bringing your
own grille. all the campsites have trees over them, so it keeps
you and your tent nice and shady. It is a fairly nice site.
